It's no N1GEL - and a Key Story

First thing I warmed up the 308 and got ready to take it in [at last] for the work it needs to get driving properly again. It started first time... ish, with a few pops and sat there idling roughly for a while.

The drive to Halstead was OK - the odd backfire and a few times it felt like it was dropping onto 6 cylinders. By the end it was settled and on 7.75 again. Parking up I was in good company as usual though.

Inside there was a Diablo on the ramp - minus virtually everything.

Looking at the number plate something looked wrong. The B was in fact an S.

Home in the MK7 and then PM off I went in the SAAB for a Harkstead/Ipswich/Harkstead run.

Then I took my new blank key for the Talbot to get it cut again. MK2 this time running well, but I still had to use the red button to get it started the second time.

When I got home I tried the new key in the door. After a few jiggles it seemed to work well - locked and unlocked the door. Then I tried to open the door. No way - the handle was immoveable. Umm. I tried both keys - no luck. A little panic and annoyance overcame me, but at least the windows were open and the other door not locked. What were were going to do now though ?

Then I noticed that the catch was down inside and I'd locked the handle myself. The key does not effect it. I moved the catch and opened the door. Dho ! But at least the key worked so I'll not lock myself out.

I then thought I check the other door. There is no lock outside, but also no lock inside - in fact no way to lock that door at all. So why did I bother ?

Finally another little bit on the model - just smoothing the filler and re-painting the undercoat while I await some more paint.

So going back to the Ferrari do I really want to let it go ? Not really.
