My Little Lorry

So today the Talbot got some attention - starting with putting on the fan heater on at 9:30. While that heated her up I took the Ferrari out to see if I can make it better with a few drives.

It got pollen on it just reversing out of the garage. However the reversing lights were still off, that was good to see. What was not so good was it being back to 7.5 cylinders ish. Odd as it was better on the day I picked it up. Anyway it fittingly subbed for the Aston in saving the planet.

And yes I deliberately parked like that - to avoid the white paint on the tarmac. Looked wet too.

So home and back to the Talbot after lunch. After four hours on the fan all I did was prime the carb, spin it over twice for the oil pressure to build, put on about 3/4 throttle and she started first try. Oh that heat trick works well. Check the floor and no evidence of lots of oil or water and checking the car the oil and water were both good. So what now ?

Well a run silly. So that's what we did in the sunshine. It went well and reminded me it's a big old Hector and sounds like a small lorry. Felt good though.

After the Talbot shakedown run I put the fan on the E-type and popped a glug of Redex in the Ferrari for another run. This time about 20 miles - but it was no better - worse at times in fact. Ho Hum.

Finally the E-type got another run out too.

Only one slight hesitation, but then it was very cold. So cold in fact that I abandoned the thought of taking the Imp out. That will have to wait until tomorrow.

The conclusion is that both the Ferrari and the E-type need fettling but perversely the 1933 vintage car is good to go.
