Working and Testing

Alpine work first thing. I was just going to clean it but I got carried away.

First I sewed a new length of cloth and fitted a new clip the right way up on the tonneau cover. (In retrospect I could have just turned the old one around years ago).

The I decided to fit the air scoop for the carbs - but I sprayed it black first. I also added more insulation to under one of the Webers which seemed to be lacking it. While the scoop was drying I changed the wheels back over - which with two jacks was quicker than I had thought. I then fitted the scoop - ummm harder than I thought.

But eventually I did it and its in - it looks far less obvious in black too

I then had a few moments left to actually clean the car !

I set off for Glevering in hot sunshine and the car went well - although at 30 mph it's still a little jerky when it warms up. It looked good outside the hall but even better parked up at Snape Maltings where we went for lunch.

Back at the Hall we showed Ron the car - he said some kind words and seemed to like it. Chris' Tiger is "Almost" ready to run in ...

Home again I parked up next to the Talbot and decided what to do next. I wonder if they will compare 'Hound Badges' tonight ?

In the end I decided to try to stick the door rubbers back and paint in a big chip on the boot I had found and while I had the paint out do a few screw heads too.

Ah - that's more in keeping. That done what next ?

Time to raise the slightly dusty Jaguar and get that warmed with a run around the block.

So I did. That was better at speed but a but 99% at 20 mph. It really should go in for a tune up.

Only the Talbot to go now.
