One Tacho Good - Two Tachos better

So first thing I booked the Ferrari in for this afternoon - job 1. done. 

Then I went looking for the distributer ... er it's not there. I found the other bits but it's definitely not with them - did I leave it in the box after all - I think I did.

So a quick call to Coltec later and yes they had it all along.

It was a long story but ... after talking to a few people they were told it was impossible to run my SI set up with a SV engine as the oil pump fitting was incompatible. I'd only had it working 22 years ...

However having been looking at it all and how it worked before they solved it. They used parts from both distributers to make it work, the lower end being the right fitting for the SV oil pump and mounted the old tacho drive on the shaft to run that after cutting it down a bit. Here is a mock up I created to show what they probably did.

So the car is done and on a test drive they report it goes well. 

As no plan survives first contact with the enemy I changed it - Ferrari pickup delayed until tomorrow - we'll collect the Alpine instead.

Let's see how I think it goes ...


The car looked good - and it went well. In fact 'better' perhaps ?

So the drive home was good - excepting the slightly poor slow running at 30 as usual.
