PM I decided to potter with the Alpine.

To start with I made a bypass wire with my new tool to see if the ammeter was the problem. Before I could even use it I spotted the problem. The wire had come off the back of the ammeter - again. Odd.

But at least it was quick to fix. So I started on the flasher unit. No luck even with the re-wired contacts. So I decided to pop into town to get a replacement one. Halfords - no - but Wilco had one. I checked it was negative earth [it was] and came back feeling confident until I hit stationary traffic on the A14.

However that cleared soon and I was home unpacking the unit. Only to find it was exactly the same as the one I had already - Positive Earth instructions inside included. Oh well.

Another duel polarity one is on the way for next weeks attempt.
