Inappropriate Car - #7

I thought after a morning of DIY I deserved to play with the cars so I started on the Riley. The easy job was fitting the new clock - using my new light too.

The only issue is that the knob to wind it up is even longer - so more prone to being knocked. Umm ...

Then I decided to clean the plugs. It is the first time I’ve cleaned them since it’s come back from Blue Diamond. Number four [closest to the driver] was very very very difficult to get out and no 2 was the only one without a bit of oil in the chamber - four was worse though. That's over 300 miles though so much better. Anyway that might explain the subtle ‘miss’ I was feeling. It took about 1/2 a pint too.

I then squirted grease in front suspension but nothing seemed to take much. I then Jacked up front and the wheels felt fine - not loose at all. I'll have to test drive it again.

I then thought that I should brave the Talbot after leaving it for 10 days. A bit hard to start with the slight knocking at first as before but it soon warmed up. I must turn it over a bit more to get the oil circulated next time. So off we went in a 1933 car to the ... bottle bank. I could not decide if the ignition light was gong fully off or not ? It seemed to glow somewhat but could have been just reflecting the ambient sunlight.

I met a neighbour who looked startled at the car while I was packing up too.

I was a bit over confident on the run around the block at 55-60 mph I had a bit of a wander across the road so I must remember to re-calibrate each time I go out. As I got home I shocked another neighbour walking his dog as he watched a sports car stop for me to let me into the drive. That's nice I thought - of the sports car.

I also remembered to check the radiator shutters and they were open at 90 - and a little more at 100+ too. This is the position at the hotter temperature.

I oiled them nevertheless. I did notice the centre ones seem to be touching - they both look slightly bent.
