On the return when we started the engine it sounded 'different' then the overheating alarm went off !
Seems that no water was getting sucked into it. Checked the filter and tried to blow air back down the intake but nothing seemed to help So time for a work-around.
Took the shower from the heads, stretched it into a water bottle I had cut the bottom off to act as a funnel, duck tape it to the wall. Then fit the bottle into the air pipe from the inflatable pump and duck tape that together, then lead it into the water intake of the engine. Simple.
Well the engine stayed cool and we got back to the marina OK.
