213 miles to Chester

We awoke to a sky the colour of pewter, there was no wind but drops of rain were already falling. The car was parked and ready quickly so we set off at (about) 9:00 exactly.

Jana took the first leg – being a passenger reminded me how jittery the car is on the crap roads we now have. Oh and how rough it runs. We got to the services just before 10:00 at 45 miles and just over two gallons used. The boot also remained shut which was good.

My turn to take over for the next 92 miles and added 20 litres of fuel at the next services. We swapped again and ran up to the M6 Toll services for lunch. Swapped again – next stop Keele services at 180 miles and added another 20l of petrol.

We arrived at the hotel about 4:15 - engine not sounding healthy - but more like hot and fouled plugs than anything else. We had been queuing in traffic for the last 30 mins of the run. We parked in the show ground with a few other Alpines left the car overnight and went to bed.

So the trip read 213 miles plus the 10% under reading means it’s about 230.
