Early start and pottered about doing jobs waiting to get the cars ready for the Stutton Fete. Cars out first thing then.
Then a planet saving trip - but locally so double saved.
Odd collection turned up really but we got a few visits. We were there until just before 4:00 in the blistering sun, so a tiring day.
I checked the Riley when I got back and yes it had goo on the top of the catch tin. I cleaned it off, but the joints seemed fine, so I started the car and ran it for a short while - it was coming up from the tin and not down from the pipes - even odder. The breather was also smoking a bit. So I took the lid off the tin.
The tin was full of emulsified oil - I don't think it was like that last time ? I decided to empty it by sucking on a pipe. Yuck.
In the end I got about 200 ml out and started the car again. It did not bubble up but the car still smoked a little. I did wonder (well I hoped) water had got in there when the head gasket blew three years ago ? I'll have to check the crank case again for signs of emulsified oil.
Checking the hot water pipe it was not sucked in this time though.
