Destructive Bugger

I thought I'd try the new Alpine escutcheon in between the dreary showers. Of course it was too small. So is my handle too big ? That's easy to shave down I thought.

So I ground it down until the chrome ring fitted. A bit brutal but I need to get on with something.

In the end it was still not 100% - it seems to sit too far out - but at least it is the same as the other side now. Both seem different to the window winder though.

I then found a third temperature gauge and decided to take it apart. Not sure why - but here it is.

What now ?

Actually a SAAB run to the shops and Harkstead in the rain was now.

In the evening I tried to translate the bolt size/formats needed for the ones missing on the Alpine. I think I managed one or two (2x ¼” UNF x ½”) so ordered them up - we'll see.

ION: Geopolitics in the Middle East continues to throw up surprises.

This time the Syrian rebels (Hayat Tahrir al-Sham) seem to have captured most of the country in a couple of weeks and got rid of President Bashar al-Assad at last.

Good news perhaps, but then they are Islamic Fundamentalists and parts of the country is in various other hands (Kurds/Turks/US/Local militias) - so it's not know what will happen next.
