So here we are again, the final packing in the rain and the gloom as it's early.
However we had an easy run up to the port. A little hesitation perhaps on the way - hard to tell, but we made it there ok. The boat was empty again so we were off quickly - although had a moment when the trainee customs man ushered us into the sheds for a search - and then realised he'd picked the wrong car so we had to reverse back out.
The car seemed to be going fine on the run back so I eased it from 60 to 65. All OK on the A3, so I got cocky on the M25 and went up to 70. All OK until there was a cut out and we lost power momentarily. That gave me a jolt - so we did the rest of the run at 65 ish. No hunting on the turbo gauge this time though.
Finally as we turned off at Freston I was going slowly in the dark when a hot hatch roared up behind us with his lights on full and tail-gated us for a while. I slowed down even more and then pulled over to let him go past - he hit his brakes in front of me then went off again. A light coloured Focus I think - I'll have to look out for that.
Anyway - so home safely and the car did a good job of making it through - it needs a reward I think.
As to me my nerves seemed to recover but I was on tender hooks a lot of the time - I should trust the car more.
