Ticking Off Tasks

So first thing I washed the MK2 Golf to spruce it up for the garage. Of course it started first time. I was worried that with the rust they might reject it - so the better it looked the better chance I thought of them doing the work.

It needs body work but seems to be holding up ok.

I then tested the E-type again and of course the problem persists.

I also got a call from Grimaldi - the carbs need a full rebuild so that's going to be a while - but at least they think they know what the problem is.

Then early afternoon I dropped golf off at the windscreen place - well after visiting the wrong one that was. Seems there are two in within spitting distance of each other on the trading estate and I'm not the first person to arrive all expectant at the wrong one.

On arrival the car failed to restart so up went the bonnet - one chap was amused by my 'button' to start the car - the other less so. In fact the grumpy one almost sneered at the age (and condition) of it !

On collection though he seemed to have warmed to it.

Home again and the car seemed to be going better - of course it wasn't but I guess I was happy they did the job. One more task ticked off though.

Home and the sun peeped out so I thought I better take something else out - the Riley - it had not been out for more than two weeks. It started a bit lumpy but settled down and went well too. Around the block we wizzed. Well at 40-45 mph we did. Home again glancing back it does look quite small.

I also noticed the battery key can be disconnected and it still keeps running - it must be the magneto.

Then a MK7 ride to the boat to collect stuff for tomorrow.

Finally I tried to clean the SAAB steering wheel and gear lever - not sure it did any good though.
