Four hours well spent ?

I called the Suffolk garage first thing to ask about the electrical problem and it had them flummoxed too. So I'll get it in there next week hopefully.

Then SAAB down to Alpine again with tools to get stuck into the door caps that the hard top (and soft top) fit into. I had made new bolts for it last night but, as expected I found the correct ones in the bag where they should have been kept. Dho !

Of course like most of the jobs, this one I did three times on this side as I realised the bar and seal holding the soft top on needed to go in first. The other side was a lot quicker though, but still two hours in total.

I then tacked the number plate - this time with the proper tools it came of easily. I was in two minds to do the chrome strip but the number plate had gone so well ... Anyway I set about fitting the new fixings to the chrome bar and their associated tiny nuts.

Two more hours and a bit of pain trying to squeeze my arm up into the cavity and I had them all in. Standing back to admire my work I spotted the problem.

Can you see it ? No I doubt anyone else will notice it but I did not fit the bar quite in the center. I'll correct that with some other things this Winter.

Chatting to Lee we were wondering what is left to do though ? Windows [hard], the bonnet catch [tricky] and a few other little things ?

Home again and guess what ? An E-mail from Rolland's daughter - she had lost my letter - so that's two contacts I may get history and photos of the Talbot from.
