So I found out that cycling is not that good for you.
I'm not blaming the driver of the large black 4x4 as he did not actually knock me off of my bike this morning. Even if he had decided that it was better I cycled through the deep mud on the road rather than he get his car dirty. I do call him out for not stopping to see how I was though, after my wheel hit a deep rut obscured by the mud and I cartwheeled over the handlebars, into the mud and across the road behind him. Luckily none of the mud splashed onto his paintwork though - I was able to verify that from my vantage point in the gutter as he drove off.
Anyway - later I had a quick half hour left of the day for work. So I looked at the Alpine and I decided to swap out the bonnet catch - I've had a replacement for almost a year now. Fitted the catch and the bonnet still did not close properly, standing proud in the middle.
Examining it closely though it seemed that the middle was being pushed up. So I took the rubber strip off and found that the metal was proud where it was welded. I cut some off and the bonnet fitted better, a few more cuts and it was almost 'good'. I need to do more but it's the clue.
Then I ran Oli home and it seems to be driving a bit better too.
But the boot popped open ...
