5 days ago we set out

and now we're back. A few fuses light and a dismantled dash board. But back.

Story of two halves....

M25 and run down

What do you get when you cross a 46 year old car with the hottest day of the year on the M25 through road-works and the Dartford crossing ? 4 hours of very hot running and an exhausted driver that's what.

But I did see light blue Aston Martin DB5 Volante dashing around the A3. Strangely also saw "coo" a red e-type on the A12 before I set off. Sure I have seen that one before.

Got a warm thumbs up on the motorway though which always helps and admiring "Le Jaguar" in the hold of the boat. Running very hot and bothered though, but water was fine when I checked it yesterday. Need to check oil though as something is smoking. Probably fuel as only got about 200 miles from the tank.

Chatting up Dutch lorry drivers in the ferry queue, lots of genuine interest - sounds superb says the younger one. I bet it goes fast. "Not really", but I bet it does a hundred ? And he probably meant miles an hour ?

Catching a French housewife in the car park showing her little one the car as he sat in the back in the seat the car.

And then the fuse went.

And the rain came down.

Then it was not fun any more. Managed to rig up a direct connection from the battery to the live side of the fuse box. Well , that give power all right and got the wipers working again. Wire running out side of the car was a bit doggy though .

Decided the same effect could be achieved just by clipping the wire to either side of the fuse box and bypassing the fuse . Well I'll look out for smoke as the fuses were blowing for some reason . Using a switch to turn the connection on And off.

But what was needed most was the fan , so I may need to run it more than I want going on the m25 tonight . Let's see whathappens... I hope the lights work too.

Got home but using too much petrol too running too rich ? Smoking but not using much oil.
