No car activity - waiting for deliveries that did not come.
SAAB was ready - but no one told me !
End of the month tally was a very low number - 180 miles. The Mk2 won !

New Night-time shots
AM - decided to try to repair the Mk2. Rust removed, filler applied and wait.
Then in the evening, after a bit of deliberation, I thought I'd try the Caterham for the night time shots. All packed up with lights etc. I started off - only to hear the car on three cylinders, so I stopped and had to clean the front two plugs. It looks like the oil leak pools in their chambers and so eventually fouls at least on of them. Anyway that achieved off we went.
I'm not sure what people thought but I got a few good shots.
This seemed a good one - but we'll see what the others give us.

I'd forgotten I had no car
Well no car is perhaps an exaggeration.
I got the Alpine out so I could maneuver the Ferrari and put it in the bubble. It took time but by rolling it backwards and forwards over the mat which I had folded under the car it worked.
That achieved I was going to use the Alpine but the rain came so I popped out in the SAAB - oh hang on it's at Abbotts - so the Mk2 came to the rescue.

Plumbers Van ?
Run in the Areo to Silk street to sort out a plumbing problem - how to re-pressurise the cylinder.
Failed the first time so had to go back - and as the sun was shining I took the Catertham. Seemed to be running a bit hot in the traffic so I might need to check the water.
Then SAAB to a very packed to Abbotts for it's service and MOT. Lets see what they find.

The evening run to the shops in the Aston - well I had not other car to use...
Picture does not do it justice. Oh and Aston started strongly both times - fine now after a few days on the trickle charger.

Warmed up a treat
The E-type that was.
After 2 hours on the fan heater it started first time after the petrol was pumped through. Again it's not been out much since Hampton Court. Last run was mid September and the pictures I took.

More pottering in the Swede
Marina run with a sail and then Harkstead in the drizzle.
Also noticed the rear badge is very badly decomposed - so a new one on order.

Hard Start
Aston out into the cold and a bit of drizzle.
It was a but reluctant to start in the garage - and then again at Tescos - but it did.
I've put it on the charger - so we'll see how it is next time. It had sat most of the month in a cold garage so we'll just hope it's not the battery dying.

Jobs Jobs Jobs
SAAB and Mk7 down to empty the boat as the drizzle abated.
Packed in as much as we count into the SAAB. Not sure what the thing in the middle is ?
The into town and parked at Silk Street - another flash car there - probably the other landlord got board with his Ferraris.

Strutting about
Started with fitting the new struts to the Golf Mk2.
Wow that makes a lot of difference. The boot seems to be sticking when shutting though - not a related problem - just another job. I also ended up bolting the parcel shelf clips on as they keep breaking off.
Then Seven out and around the block in the sunshine - only to be slightly impacted by a small bit of grit in my eye. Having got that out it was off to Harkstead and jobs.
Then Mk2 off to save the planet and back as the rain started.
And spotted this Austin 8 in the car park too. Nice to see something like the out and being used.

Mine looks like that !
Down to London in the Mk7. An automatic is so much easier in traffic I'd have to admit.
Spotted a spotless DB5 (or 6) on the way down - looking splendid as it pottered in traffic.
Then walking to lunch spotted an elderly couple in Brixton in a Caterham - I think he was enjoying the sunshine more than she was though.
Apart from the cycle wings it was just like mine. I must get out and drive it more.

Longer dash in the wet
SAAB for jobs and pottering - rain most of the day though.
That's the guttering overflowing again as I drove by.

Back before the Brexit Vote (#29)
SAAB packed and ready for the run to the ferry and home.
180 miles later we're home, unpacked and planning the return.

Going the wrong way ?
Spent the morning taking back a spare bale to the DIY shop and looking for carpets.

Final run ?
SAAB with two more bales in the boot, but this time I knew the drill so reversed into the warehouse.

Boxed in by the white vans though at times.

Van-Time a la France
First day spent shopping for food etc. oh and a Fridge Freezer.
SAAB had it in hand - although we did need to strap the boot lid down.

Familiar sight
SAAB boot packed up for the run to France - parked at the Marina ?
... as we had to go via the boat as we'd forgotten to turn the batteries off.
Uneventful run down dodging the showers but I did spot a couple of nice new Ferraris at the port hidden amongst the rows of grey cars.

Struts - and details
The gas struts that arrived for the Golf but I did not fit them due to the rain.
Also got my DVLA rejection letter. Not enough evidence of the build date of the Ferrari.
I can however, just wait until April 1st 2020 (I assume they were not joking) and the car will be deemed to be 40 years old.
I might just do that and squirrel it away in the bubble as I'll be taking it off the road soon anyway.
Still does not fix the starting through, but that is a job for 2020.

It's full already
Early run to drop off the MK7 for a service and MOT.
Then checked over the SAAB for the run. Water fine, Oil fine and then pumped the tyres up to 40 psi for the weight.
Got the wood store packed plus the matting, tools, etc. Seems to be almost full already now.
Then between the showers back to collect the Golf - the car did not feel that heavy - so it's more a volume issue I guess.

Classic wet autumn day.

SAAB run
Off to Ickworth House and back with some rusty metal on the boot of the SAAB. Well garden ornaments as presents.

MK2 Time
Golf out and about - running well but looking a bit ratty parked at the shops.
And missing a side bumper that has fallen off again. It was on the drive so I've rescued it but I can't see why the number plate tape did not work.
Then off to Harkstead and finally pick up Jana from the station - where it got appreciative comments from a youth. So that was worth it - ish.

Not quite the magic Ton
SAAB out and about for jobs first thing - that''s kindling in the boot.
The Aston out in the sunshine for petrol and a re-cycling run. Oh and to test the fob.
The Aston out in the sunshine for petrol and a re-cycling run. Oh and to test the fob.
As I was using the fob with the new battery it worked fine and I did not get a call from the alarm center - which is what I suspected was the problem on Monday.
I topped the tank up as much as I could and did not get to the magic ton stopped short of £96.
Nice drive though - the car seemed to like the cool air.

Storm Arrived
Early run into town in the SAAB. Traffic bad so I had to park up and walk to get to the optician.
I parked outside Felaw Maltings and walked past my old office on my way into town. I have to admit it felt a bit odd.
The other problem was I was in a 1 hour bay so I ended up dashing there and back - I got back to the car with 1 minute to spare ... ish. No sign of a warden though.
Afternoon and the rain came back as I took down the miles - and looked at the carbon rims. Nice.
Turns out that the E-type just pipped the Aston for miles used - that London trip did it. But they both beat the SAAB !
Poor showing with the others - 308 due to its starting problems but the Orphan was the Golf Mk2 at .... ZERO.
