Moon Dash

Out riding around in the Mk7 as it got darker - so a quick dash to the coast for the super-red-blue-moon whats it tonight.

Aero acting as support vehicle.

War Surplus

Aero day.

First checked out the Dodge stored away on a form. I always forget how big military vehicles are - must have been wider than the vans that were occupying 95% of the barn.

Hard to get a good picture of it really. A bit specialist for me though.

Then toured around taking pictures all afternoon and evening.

More Mag Time

Just reading about other people's cars and thinking I need to drive mine when I get a chance.

Can't think of a reason to get rid of any of the fleet - and no way to add to it readily.

Reading - leading to driving - and this

I was reading Low Flying and started thinking that the Caterham needed a run. Not sure it has been out in 2018 ?

The sun was shining and the weather not that cold too.

The problem was that it was in the out-door bubble which is a pain to take off and put back on. It needs lugs to hang it up with.

I bit the bullet and after an hour the car was free, windscreen cleaned, fan heater had warmed it up and we were ready to go.

Nice run round the block with a couple of waves from cars to cheer me up.

Looked at the top when I got back - it's got two layers on the top half and could have handles sewed on - perhaps before I put it away ?

Anyway hanging it up with various bits did the job and made it much easier to put the car back in.

Finally I spotted this advert - a 308 at well over £100k and not a plastic (vetroresina) one.

Back to playing

MK2 Golf out in the morning sunshine to the shops. I took that in preference to the Aston. Odd.

A bit dirty but started first time in the cold. The indicators packed up on the way, but it was a doggy switch - probably just lack of use.

The post lunch decided to give the Aston a run - which had been the original idea. Nice run in the sunshine.

Cleaned the windows on my return. Quite shiny.

Three shit jobs ?

Alpine first thing. After reaching the end of my tether I got it started (clean the plugs off again) and an extra earth just stalled the car ? Something about the electrics.

Before then I'd snapped the wire to the thermostat - so I was really on a roll when I shorted out the distributor with a quiet pop/fizz. So that's back in the post to see what I have done.

Then I decided to look at the SAAB fin aerial. Stripped off the old rotted outer core to find the one I had bought did not fit. Even after a bit of 're-work'. So it's now just taped up.

Finally I fitted the new carpets for the E-type. Nice and simple but of course they look a bit new compared to the rest of the carpets.

Oh well. Tomorrow is another day.

More Wind

Found the bridge closed again when I popped out for an errand in the SAAB.

Ipswich was therefore gridlocked as normal - I even parked on the road and walked to the shop.

Can't get myself out to the garage in this weather so just dragging the SAAB around the muddy lanes for jobs.

Birthday Boat Jobs

Aero to marina to move the sails about for their service.

Boot swallowed them easily.

Car now filthy again due to muddy and flooded roads.

Rain and Snow

So no car activity again.

What - no parking sensors ?

Ride in the Mk7 to take the Suzuki Swift for a drive as it had not been out for a while.

Quite gutless as I remembered from before. But nice and basic.

More dreary weather

Just keeping us inside.

Although got some tips to test for the Alpine.

SAAB Treat

Spent about three hours cleaning the SAAB - inside and out.

Picture does not do it justice, but cleaning is one job I can usually do.

Could do with sorting the alloys which are very very scuffed.

Next would be to sort the scratches and dents ...

Perhaps if I have time.

Bit the bullet and contacted the Distributor Doctor with the problems. Let's see what he says.

Delving back in

Alpine again today.

Changed the coil and it started fine as normal. I ran it for ten mins and it seemed ok - although the coil was heating up.

So it sat there for a while ticking over well. A drive proved it would go but not well - perhaps better than before after I set the timing to what was on the chart.

Not good enough to risk taking it down to a garage though.

I know that the curve is set for the Holbay cam and mine is just a normal 1725 with twin Webers. I'll investigate.

Then evening drive in Aero to photograph the night traffic again. Something I can actually do.

Two CC

Moved the Golf on the drive and walked to Harkstead - that's about it.

Real tools arrive

A collection of equipment to cut the trees arrived at 7:45 am.

We were boxed in but then again it rained most of the day so I was not interested in a run out.

2 x A

Two A's - Aero for jobs and then Aston for fun.

Took it round the block and a bit on the A12 just to light it up.

Accelerates so fast it's over in a thrice. Oh well.

Then the 'Ice Warning' light came on so that was that.

A4J

Aero for jobs again - just pottering though.

Sneaking a sunny drive

Golf Mk2 round the block in the sun.

Went well, especially as it's past 160k miles although it needed Oil and water  - both a bit low.

It's not been used much though so it must just leak out ...

Amphibious Aero

Usual flooded road as you leave the village - must have been like it for several years now.

Anyway SAAB back to the dump just for old times sake.

More in-house pottering

No car action at all.

Although I did see the Aston in the garage - getting dusty.

Roads shitty and wet.

More passenger rides

Looked at Alpine - it's very dirty after my test drives.

Decided to leave it a few more days before getting back to work.

Ride in Golf Mk7 instead.

Another few feet

I backed the Aston out of the garage to put chairs in the loft. About 20 feet all told.

SAAB across the drive too.

Not much else to report.

Nice Surprise

Early run back from Portsmouth via Brixton, to discuss Kitchens and pick up some more crap. SAAB going well and seems to like the spot.

However, I found another fine on the doorstep when we got back. £80 for a parking fine - I had forgotten to fill in the number plate section ... Who knows.

Final dark and cold evening jaunt across to Stutton in the Aero.

Feeling at Home

SAAB to the dump (now we have our new card) first thing - with the old BBQ and washing machine.

Then bottle bank as we cleared up.

A typical Saturday really.

Then off to the Ferry in the sunny evening.

Canal 2

Longer run to see the 11 locks at Hede. We saw about 6 I think after picnic in the SAAB by the water.

Local Trips

Wet day so just shopping and looking for a Masher.

Canal 1

Trip off to walk down the canal path at Evran.

SAAB getting very dirty now as the French roads are mainly wet and the fields are all flooded.

More Aero runs

Aero off to Dinan to walk down the canal, then evening run to picture the lights of Aucauleuc.

Little and Electric

Out for a bracing walk along the coast - Aero and lift in Miranda's A3.

Spotted a solitary Tesla in the car park.

and a toy car parked near us.

It said Ligier on it. It was a Ligier Microcar.
