So nipped out in Caterham = Summer break has started.

Aero to Rootes

Went to the SAOC meting in Banbury - the Rootes archive centre is in need of some money.

Nearly 300 miles - and on for the 600 if I eek it out.

Final insult ?

Great early run in the Aston - final day and I thought I'd treat myself - it's not done many miles this winter either.

Witham junction was blocked so it was up a junction and back in with all the school run tragic. 

Never mind - it's better than central London I guess. 

Run back better - even via Tescos. 

Back to Aero

Easier traffic. Day 94.

One more to go.

Lively Commute

Took Aston to work.

Started well with sunshine in the frost - but then A12 got blocked and the route went via muddy single track roads. 

Oh well it behaved impeccably - better than I felt stick in more Essex traffic jambs. 

Got attention just parked up - and I spotted someone photographing it. 

Run back was better although needed two stops for fuel as I only got a bit of 95 octane in it first time around. 

Liked the blue lines. 

Still find it hard to get a full tank though. 

Dull commute

Will need petrol tomorrow - Aero showing  78 miles to go and it's 70 there and back. Missing the 600 mark again. 

Full circle

Looks like the A12 journeys are ending as they began.

Oh well. 

Utility

A bit if Aero utility action was all. 

V to C

Just utility run VW mk7 to Colchester.

Shopping run - then after.

A to B

Aston the Brentwood - for it's third service. Ice warning and minus 3 by the river. Zero most of the way too but the tires were fine.

Got home before the rain too - after it got washed.

Looks good still.

And this was when it was dirty.

Aero again

Better drive and left work in the light - all be it at 5:00 on the dot.

600 still on the cards - might start being a bit careful.

The only road out of Essex

Ok so what happens when the A12 is blocked ?

You go via Halstead. Only 1h 40 mins home though. So an extra 40 mins. Ho hum. 

Aero slogging away

Another commute - will see another 1k on the speedo before the month is out. 

Tracking for 600 though and I'm not being frugal with the loud pedal. 

News from the North

Golf alternator has fallen off - sheered the bolt. James spotted it after the 'professional' missed it.

Nice man fixed it for free for James. 

Aero back on for 600 in the cold though. Which is odd.

Too cold on Sunday

Fettled the Caterham in preparation for a blast - even though it was only about 3 degrees. Started to rain though and that's not fun.

So resorted to the Golf MK7.

Caterham tyres were low - but all the same 'low' at about 12 psi - I put them up to 18 psi as I read. Might check that. Oil fine and water seemed OK to.

Golf broke down again in Liverpool - diagnosed as a loose alternator belt - but it needs replacing ?

Hope it's that simple.

Aero to Woodbridge - then a ride in a G40.

Made me think of taking the Caterham on it next time.

Had to stop

Dropped to 18 miles to go - and then I got the real warning sign. 

I'd gone past the 15 miles to go mark - but decided not to break down at the Tesco roundabout. 

So I got almost 550. Then got over 77 litres in the tank - showed 699 on the counter too - not seen that. 

Thursday red light

Fuel light came on, on the way down in the morning today.

But I should get all the week completed.

Still in for the hyper mile in the Aero. 

Glimpse of Spring

Caterham's turn for a wash - looked much better afterwards. 

Sun shone so round the block to dry it off - and obviously get it dirty again. Might try a Witham run this week. 

Quick dash in the V12 to blow away the cobwebs too. 

Cleaning up

Aero got a wash - foam spray worked ok but jet was a bit half hearted. Needed a better one. 

Still, its nice and clean for a few miles. 

Needed oil too - not checked it for a few thousand miles. 

Friday 600

Miles still estimated at over 600 - but goes up and down a lot. We'll see if the Aero can make all next week on one tank. 

Late night news that VW is working again though - flat battery. 

Feeling Blue

Followed a bright blue BMW M4 down the road on the morning run. Looked smart - but it only has 2 exhausts so not the top of the range I guess ?

Still on for 600

Can't see how the Aero can do it - but it holds at least 75 litres. About 16.5 gallons.  

Getting just over 33 to the gallon so 544 miles. 

We'll see. 

Perplexing petrol gauge.

So there was 80ish miles in the tank - then it went down to 40 but when stopped in tragic back up up 85 miles to go - and the petrol light went out. 

Got to work and back but Aero displaying odd symptoms. 

But it will do 600 if I am careful. 

Oh and Golf is still dead and not responding to the jump start. 

Mundane Monday

So much so nothing of interest to report Aero low on fuel though so we'll play how much is in the tank tomorrow.
