No Car Action

Rainy day and chilly - not much fun to be had with the cars but at least it's washed the salt away.

Miles-wise Caterham just squeezed past 100 miles in January which is not bad considering the weather.

Mind you it needs a good clean.

Finished the afternoon off reading Chris Rea's La Passione book - mostly art book but very evocative and made me want to get out and drive the Ferrari.

American memories

Aston out of hibination for a blast and a visit to look at the new v8 Mustang.

Very similar to the one we hired in Atlanta. It's only £40k for the top of the range. Still prefer the Aston though, and so did someone in the carpark who asked if he 'could take the grey one?'.

Then Caterham out for a blatt in the cold and sunshine. Needs a wash but filling the niche I planned for the winter.

Final day of the commuting week

Aero again. Not much else.

Thursday, 28 January 2016

Less potholes

Noticed they had filled in some holes on the A12 - wow.

See how long he patches last.

Aero again - almost warm enough for the Caterham in the evening - but not in the morning yet.

Waiting for a day that's dry all day still.

And repeat

Noticed the parking spaces seem small - vs the Aero anyway. That's all the excitement there was.

Aero to the station

And back - day 1 of train commuting.

Monday, 25 January 2016

Nothing of note

Aero run to clear boot at Witham.

Lots of basic cars on the roads - did see a bright red Audi TT soft top though that looked tasty.

Sunday, 24 January 2016

Sunset Run

Aero to run load back from North Suffolk. Warm 13 degrees so ideal for something else - but we needed the space.

Others slumbering - nothing of note on the roads either.

Caterham Queing

Into Ipswich via the food hall in the Caterham. Bright sunny day if a bit wet.

Ended up stop - start queuing into and out of Ipswich - exchanged (nice) words with a chap in a SS100 kit while in the queue - appreciated the top down as he had.

Then clouded over so dark dismal final few miles.

Really do need to sort the seats out - and the drive is getting muddy as I am using it more this year.

Another B&F

Jobs in SAAB - load lugging, bits and bobs, bottle bank and nice to see 7 degrees on the way back.

Followed the white R8 into Marsh this morning - so I know where it lives as suspected. Nice.

Thursday, 21 January 2016

Golfing again

Still hard to get into and out of the MK7. I Like the features and they point towards automated cars.

Need to sort out the music from my phone though.

Cheap as Chips

Petrol 99.9 pence per liter again.

Aero filled up - only getting about 7 days out of each tank now though.

Cold start at -4 by the river.

Tuesday, 19 January 2016

Aero again

Cold start at -2 but not too bad parked under the car port.

Getting used to the heated seats am and pm though.

Monday, 18 January 2016

Proper cold at last

Aero to station and -2 when I got back.

Defrost and heated seats a must.

Sunday, 17 January 2016

Sunshine and Heat

Aero to the boat to take off the sails - probably 5 degrees max but lovely clear day.

Then run out in the Catetham - sun had gone in a bit but quite warm and snug in there too. Got very dirty and those tyres are a bit 'twitchy' on ice cold mud and the salt.

Big Orange Ball

It's the convertible Range Rove Evoque.

As seen at the Boat show.

About twice as big as the MK7 which we went to London in.

Friday, 15 January 2016

Enjoying some modern features - not all.

Snow on the MK7 over night - auto wipers meant that it was frantically wiping when all I wanted was a pulse.

Cruse control takes some of the commuting pain away - but it feel like it's off some times.

Oh and the Satnav needs traffic to be more useful.

White out - 1 and 2

Followed by a white R8 into Witham.

It would have looked better if the sun had been out but low and sporty in the rear view mirror.

Snow started as I drove back - from little flecks in Essex to large flakes in Suffolk.

Bridge blocked for some reason.

Almost blinded by it near home.

Aero kept plodding on.

Wednesday, 13 January 2016

Basic stuff

Aero down and back - busy but nothing out of the ordinary.

One thing that I notice though is how much junk there is in the central reservation.

Tuesday, 12 January 2016

Golf Dash

Morning stormy run into work - through flooded back roads to Witham due to a crash.

Rain soaked morning and snow on the way - so they say.

Finished off with a late night run in the MK7 to see Oli in Hispital. Not expected.

Monday, 11 January 2016

Pure White

Followed a Tesler Model S into Witham today. Large car in while.

Sunday, 10 January 2016

Shitty Roads

Roads covered in mud and puddles but at least no salt.

Run in the Caterham first thing. Got to sort the seats - and now clean it.

Then Alpine to the pub - top down and blankets on the knees.

Turns out we were the only mad ones. Rubbing still there a bit.

Got home to find Oli had taken the Caterham out too.

Shuffling Saturday

Moved the cars around.

Alpine out of the bubble so we can use it tomorrow if the weather holds.

Not kept as clean and shiny as the indoor bubbles but that could be the moisture forming as we took the cover off. I also did not clean it before putting it away.

Usual problem with lack of fuel initially (must fit that pump) but started strongly when fuel got through. Ran to the bottle bank at Tescos and the car went well. However a rubbing/squeaking on the left when turning left - could be er.. just a bit of rust - or the tyres inflated too much as I forgot to drop the pressures. We'll see tomorrow.

Moisture on the Alpine went after a while though.

Swapped with the Caterham - which started first time after 2 hours on blow heater - but rain came back so could not go for a run in that.

Need more garage space though.

Oh and MK7 final of the day.

Frosty Friday

At last some more cold weather.

Second morning defrost of the Winter.

Easy Aero run back as it was late.

Thursday, 7 January 2016

Never a good sign

Not when 3 police cars go through the lanes of traffic you are stationary in.

The very heavy rain and poor visibility meant several small shunts on the way in today. Aero splashing through the standing water - although even that twitched a few times.

Wednesday, 6 January 2016

Back to the grind

Snarled roads for no reason.

And a foggy drive back.

A bit brighter

V12V run just to shake out the cobwebs.

Windows down to hear the noise.

Monday, 4 January 2016

What a load of ...

Wine actually... not too sure how much but enough to bump stop the suspension a few times.

Sunday, 3 January 2016

... and on the third day they shalt queue

Back to the port in the evening and joined the queue to the Ferry.

Saturday, 2 January 2016

Track Day Car - 100% Breton

In the French Supermarket. Looked quick and business like.

I think it's built in the same complex as the Manoir de l'Automobile at Loheac.
