Into the garage to look at the Talbot at last. The first job is to isolate the batteries and therefore before that - take up the floor.
Then looked at the regulator bolts - yes it's bolted through the firewall again - but it is easy to get to just by taking off the lower part this time.
Again two small nuts - oh and star fittings on the other side. Not very period - nor easy to get at - so I might change that when everything goes back together.
The regulator connection revealed not two but four wires into the fuse box - yellow, black, red and blue.
Black as earth on the bolt clip.
Blue to the blue connector that has the red wire coming out of it.
Red to red fitting with another red wire coming out of it.
Yellow to the blue fitting with the green and blue wire.
Have you got that ?
I disconnected the regulator from the firewall and stopped there. I'll need to clean and label the wires before taking then apart ... Then a quick tidy of the tools and we stopped for the day (or two).
Time for a SAAB run to check on the Harkstead resident I thought - so I did.
Then finally an early evening ride back to Harkstead - this time for a meal and a bit of Am-Dram.
